![]() That was my thought, too, but you were looking for a solution and haven't been able to find one so apparently it isn't that big of an issue. Would a Windows VM running those open File Explorer windows arranged as you like work for your situation? Presumably it would restore its state when the host OS was rebooted. When I saw the words "window manager" for the Fancy Zones tool, I had a brief glimmer of hope, but it still doesn't do what I'm looking for. ![]() Haven't found any way to do that automatically. Every time I reboot, I've got to open all those Explorer windows AGAIN, and put them all in the right places on my desktop AGAIN, just so they're all in the familiar place to make things go quicker. For example, for some of the work I do, I'm used to having several File Explorer windows open in different locations so that my workflow has me moving files from one to another depending on the results of some analysis on the contained data. ![]() What I would still like to see is a Window Layout manager that can save layouts. Yes, this is true - BUT, it appears to save the location per application, meaning that if I have four WIndows Explorer windows open, that doesn't do me any good since it will just save the location of the "most recent" by whatever method it uses.įor example, I've been using a 3rd party bulk rename utility for years, but this one looks useful too and a lot cleaner. when saving location and I was in a docking station with some windows displayed on external second display, but the next time, I'm running without docking station as I might be in a meeting, then it does not reopen on such external display as it is no longer available. It has to be some setting in Windows registry to save size and location in profile. But if that location is already occupied or unavailable, it will not open at such location. But for large Windows it may more likely be reopened on same location. ![]() To a limited extend, this seems to me configurable even on Windows 10 if I remember it right.
